HARRIS COUNTY — Authorities issued an Amber Alert for 11-month-old Sabastian Jones, who was last seen in northwest Harris County. Officials state the infant may be with his mother, 25-year-old Alena Thornton.

Sabastian Jones was last seen on July 17, 2026, in the 5200 block of FM 1960 West. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated the case is connected to an ongoing parental custody dispute.

Investigators are attempting to locate Alena Thornton, who has had contact with her family. The Amber Alert stated Thornton was last seen wearing a green shirt. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office asked individuals with information to contact them at 713-274-9191.

The Texas Center for the Missing outlines that an Amber Alert can only be issued when there is a confirmed abduction, the child is believed to be at risk of bodily harm, and there is enough descriptive information about the child and abductor to be released to the public. Harris County has issued multiple Amber Alerts in recent years related to child abductions and missing persons. In one case, three toddlers were found alone at home in Tomball, Texas, and the mother was arrested for child endangerment after deputies responded to a welfare check.

In 2026, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert for a 1-year-old boy, Alejandro Vasquez, and his 15-year-old mother, Escarleth Vasquez. The alert was later discontinued when the children were found in Houston through an automated license plate reader. In a similar case in 2024, a 1-year-old boy named Noah Johnson was kidnapped from Houston, and an Amber Alert was issued.

The child was later found in Kansas City, Missouri, and was in urgent need of medical care due to a severe health condition. In 2026, an Amber Alert was issued for a 1-year-old boy, Taelin Calloway-Sorrells, in Austin, Texas. The alert was issued after the child was last seen with a 26-year-old woman, and the Texas Department of Public Safety issued the alert following a missing persons report.
