SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department arrested Luis Barrios in connection with an armed robbery at a Northeast Side bank. The arrest concluded an investigation into a crime that occurred at a Security Service Federal Credit Union on July 18.

Officers identified the suspect as Luis Barrios, 36. He faces one count of aggravated robbery according to Bexar County court records. Barrios was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.

The robbery occurred on July 18, just before 11 a.m. in the 6900 block of North Loop 1604 East. Luis Barrios and Omar Resendez-Diaz allegedly entered the financial institution, held an employee at gunpoint, and stole items from customers.

Authorities stated that Barrios and Resendez-Diaz fled the scene in a vehicle that was later found abandoned on Nacogdoches Road. The vehicle used in the escape had been reported stolen in an aggravated robbery on July 17. Officials stated that the suspects' clothing in the July 17 case matched the clothing worn by one of the credit union robbery suspects.

The investigation linked two separate aggravated robbery incidents through forensic and observational evidence. The matching clothing and the recovery of the stolen vehicle provided the basis for identifying Barrios as a participant in the July 18 incident. The arrest demonstrates the police department's method of connecting sequential crimes through physical evidence and vehicle tracking.
