LONDON — Tennis player Coco Gauff stated she would like to play WTA doubles tennis with Serena Williams. Gauff, 22, is playing doubles with Jessica Pegula at the Berlin Tennis Open. Gauff has won doubles titles with Caty McNally, Pegula, and Katerina Siniakova. She won the 2024 French Open doubles title with Siniakova and the 2023 Miami Open doubles title with Pegula. Gauff also played doubles with Alex Eala at the 2025 Italian Open.

Karolina Muchova commented on the potential partnership. "I'm pretty excited about it. It doesn't happen every day that such an amazing athlete, not only in tennis but overall in sport, asks you to play tennis with her," Muchova said. She added, "I hope it's going to be fun."

Serena Williams, 44, stated that her return to tennis is about her children getting to see her play. Williams has two daughters, Olympia and Adira. She added that she may need to train more if she wants to play singles. "I've had enough pressure," Williams said.

Serena Williams and Venus Williams have won 14 Grand Slam doubles tournaments together. They secured six Wimbledon doubles titles, with their last win occurring in 2016. Their Wimbledon doubles victories spanned 2000, 2002, 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2016. Neither Serena Williams nor Venus Williams are scheduled to compete in the singles event at Wimbledon. Venus Williams, 45, has recorded seven Grand Slam singles titles. She lost all seven of her singles matches in the 2026 season but won a doubles match at the Madrid Open in April 2026.
