NORTHEAST TEXAS — The Texas Department of Transportation will begin a $12.9 million seal-coat and striping project on April 13 to resurface more than 100 miles of highways across nine counties in its Paris District in Northeast Texas. Contractor Clark Construction of San Antonio was awarded the contract with a low bid of $12.9 million.

The resurfacing project is expected to be completed by the end of summer, pending permitting. The Texas Department of Transportation awarded the resurfacing plans last winter.

The project consists of seal coat and striping work across the Paris District, which includes Hunt, Grayson, Fannin, Rains, Hopkins, Franklin, Lamar, Delta and Red River counties.

Approximately 35 miles of the resurfaced roads are in Hunt County. The work there includes State Highway 24, Farm-to-Market Road 751, FM 429, FM 1565 and FM 2736.

The resurfacing on State Highway 24 in Hunt County will take place across three segments. The first section runs from FM 499 to Interstate 30, covering 2.26 miles. The second section extends from Loop 178/State Highway 11 to FM 513, covering 6.08 miles. The third section connects FM 513 to FM 499, covering 1 mile.

The resurfacing on Farm-to-Market Road 751 in Hunt County will take place from State Highway 276 to the Van Zandt County line, covering 6.13 miles. The resurfacing on Farm-to-Market Road 428 in Hunt County will take place from Farm-to-Market Road 751 to the Kaufman County line, covering 1.76 miles.

The resurfacing on Farm-to-Market Road 1565 in Hunt County will take place from Interstate 30 to the Kaufman County line, covering 10.93 miles. The resurfacing on Farm-to-Market Road 2736 in Hunt County will take place from State Highway 224 to State Highway 24, covering 6.28 miles.

Various lane closures are expected throughout the project duration. The seal-coat and striping work will cover highways in all nine counties within the Paris District.
