ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA — A small airplane made an emergency landing on Interstate 78 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Saturday morning after the pilot reported engine issues. The Rockwell Commander touched down on the highway at approximately 9:20 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The two people onboard the single-engine aircraft were not injured, according to Pennsylvania State Police. No additional injuries among motorists on the interstate were reported by authorities.

Eastbound traffic on Interstate 78 was being detoured onto exit 40, and drivers were advised to expect delays in the area, according to state police.

Dashcam video of the incident, which circulated on social media, shows the plane flying low overhead before landing on the interstate and slowing down.

Emily Rivera, who was traveling from Harrisburg to the Lehigh Valley when the landing took place, said she saw the plane come down on the road ahead of her. "Honestly I was in disbelief because I never expected a plane to land in front of me!" Rivera said.

The FAA confirmed it is investigating the incident. State police said more information will be released at a later time.
