NASHVILLE, TENN. — A court-appointed receiver has taken control of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey and removed Fawn Weaver and Keith Weaver from their leadership roles at the company. The move is part of a broader effort to restructure the insolvent whiskey brand, which has faced mounting financial and legal challenges.

The receiver assumed operational authority to oversee the business and protect the interests of creditors, according to court documents. Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is currently insolvent, prompting the sale of non-essential assets to generate cash. Among the assets being sold is a property under contract for nearly $2.6 million.

Fawn Weaver and Keith Weaver’s employment with the company officially ended effective June 1, 2026. The receiver has also restricted their access to company facilities and systems, a power explicitly granted under the August 22, 2025, court order that appointed him. Despite the restrictions, the receiver returned personal property belonging to the Weavers.

Legal disputes involving the Weavers have further complicated the company’s operations. These disputes delayed the sale of a Martha’s Vineyard property after the original buyer withdrew from the agreement. The receiver stated that such legal actions “created confusion among employees, vendors, and distributors, disrupted daily operations, and required significant time and resources to address.”

Despite the challenges, the receiver expressed cautious optimism about the brand’s future. “The Uncle Nearest brand still has long-term potential,” he said.
