MILWAUKEE — Ryan Braun, Mark Murphy, Bob Gansler, and John Boie were inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame during its 76th annual induction ceremony at the Marcus Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee on July 8, 2026. The event also recognized athletes of the year and presented scholarships.

John Boie became the first adaptive athlete to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Boie is a two-time gold medalist with the U.S. wheelchair basketball team. "Wisconsin is my home," Boie said. "I grew up right next to Whitewater, where I got my start with wheelchair basketball. That's where it launched me onto the U.S. platform and being all different places in the world meeting presidents."

Former Milwaukee Brewers player Ryan Braun, who spent 14 years with the team and made six All-Star teams, expressed his appreciation for the city. "I loved it here. What's not to like about the Brewers organization, the city of Milwaukee, the fan base here? They meaningfully contribute to the team success. I recognized early that I wanted to be one of the unique players to potentially have the opportunity to spend their entire career in one city. I've never regretted it a moment. So grateful I was one of the very few athletes to spend entire career in one city," Braun said.

"It's a group effort. The current team is so much fun to watch and I am a fan like a lot of you. This year's team has as good [a chance] as a team as any in the last 20 years to make a deep run," Braun said. "It means the world to me. This place has embraced my family and me since Day 1. We really felt like we were part of this community, and the community has always embraced us, always supported us."

Mark Murphy, who served as the Green Bay Packers CEO for 18 years, also spoke at the ceremony. "From my time with the Packers, almost 18 years, I just loved the fan base here in Wisconsin," Murphy said.

Bob Gansler coached the U.S. men's national soccer team in the 1990 World Cup. Gansler was born in Hungary and lived in Germany until age 10 before his parents emigrated to Milwaukee in 1952.

Caroline Harvey and Jordan Stolz were recognized as athletes of the year. Ella Zutz, Beau Veit, Emersyn Miller, and Diego Loeza received scholarships during the event.
