SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS — Kimi Antonelli won the Belgian Grand Prix for Mercedes after overtaking Charles Leclerc on lap 34 of the 44-lap race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Antonelli started from pole position and completed the race with a total time of 1:24:42.479, finishing 1.952 seconds ahead of the Ferrari driver.

George Russell retired from the race after a collision on the first lap. The Mercedes driver collided with Lewis Hamilton at Les Combes on the opening lap, causing his car to spin into the gravel trap. Russell said he was not going to blame Hamilton for the collision, describing the event as a racing incident.

"I came out of Turn One, for whatever reason I was 30-40% down on my battery. I just totally got swamped up by three cars," Russell said. He added that he had not seen the incident clearly but accepted the outcome.

"Incident with Lewis, I have not really seen it. But I thought probably a racing incident. I am not going to blame Lewis."

Hamilton received a five-second penalty for the collision with Russell. The penalty was applied during the race, affecting his final position despite his recovery drive. Hamilton also hit a Ferrari mechanic during his pit stop, leading to further scrutiny of the team's operations.

Ferrari was fined 30,000 euros for the unsafe pit release involving Hamilton. Of this fine, 10,000 euros was suspended for 12 months pending any similar offense. The unsafe release occurred because a front-wing setting change request was not fed into the Ferrari system, leading to the premature release of the car.

Oscar Piastri finished fifth driving for McLaren, ending the race 18.988 seconds behind the winner. Isack Hadjar finished sixth driving for Red Bull Racing, completing the race 23.307 seconds behind Antonelli. Lando Norris finished seventh driving for McLaren, 24.014 seconds behind the leader.

Lando Norris started the race from 13th position due to a 10-place grid penalty. Despite the setback, he managed to climb into the points, finishing ahead of the Audi and Racing Bulls entries. Gabriel Bortoleto finished eighth driving for Audi, 49.140 seconds behind the winner.

Arvid Lindblad finished ninth driving for Racing Bulls, 50.406 seconds behind the winner. Franco Colapinto finished 10th driving for Alpine, ending the race 1 minute and 16.037 seconds behind Antonelli. The top ten finishers secured championship points in a race that saw several position changes.

Kimi Antonelli overtook Leclerc on lap 34 of 44 to take the lead. Leclerc had gained the lead briefly after pitting under a virtual safety car period that occurred due to debris on the track. The strategy shift allowed Leclerc to lead for several laps before Antonelli reclaimed the position.

Stewards took no further action regarding contact between Leclerc and Oscar Piastri during the race. Car 16 did not deliberately crowd Car 81 off the edge of the track. The decision allowed both drivers to retain their finishing positions without additional penalties.

The result at Spa-Francorchamps solidified Mercedes' position at the top of the constructors' championship, with Antonelli's victory adding significant points to their tally. The team now holds a 73-point lead over Ferrari, providing a buffer as the season progresses.
