LONDON — Coco Gauff defeated Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on July 7, 2026. The victory marks Gauff's first time reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in her career.

Gauff, the seventh seed at Wimbledon, is scheduled to play Karolina Muchova on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The match will begin at 1:30 PM BST on Centre Court.

Gauff has won four consecutive deciding sets at Wimbledon. She is 22 years old. Gauff previously reached the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019 when she was 15 years old.

During her run to the semi-finals, Gauff defeated Tamara Korpatsch 6-2, 6-1 in the first round on July 1, 2026. She then advanced past Solana Sierra 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 in the second round on July 3, 2026. Gauff secured her spot in the quarter-finals by beating Clare Liu 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in the third round on July 5, 2026.

Gauff holds a 6-1 lead in her head-to-head record against Muchova. Muchova defeated Gauff in their most recent meeting on clay in Stuttgart. However, Gauff defeated Muchova in the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier in the season and in the semi-finals of the Miami Open earlier in the season.

Muchova secured her place in the semi-finals by defeating Barbora Krejcikova 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in the round of 16 on July 6, 2026. Muchova stated, "I'm appreciating definitely more the time that I'm here, that I can play, that I don't have these big issues that I had in the past. I'm also happy that I now am like selling my game, I would say, and that I can use it. [Coco] is a great athlete overall. One of the best in the world, in our sport. It was tough to play against her. I'm happy we have 0-0 on the grass. That's a bit better balance for me there. She gives you a lot of balls back. She has a lot of weapons. She is big fighter, which as well gives a lot of, yeah, things to her game to make it awkward for me."

Gauff commented on her performance, stating, "I think it feels really special considering the results I've had of late and just especially on this surface. It definitely is special. I think I'm able to relax a bit because I just feel regardless of how the rest of this tournament goes, I really think I've found a bit of a breakthrough on grass. Regardless of how it goes, I think I'm just proud of myself. Obviously I'm not satisfied. I want to go all the way. Also, at the same time, I'm just looking at the match in front of me and just trying to keep doing better each point." She added, "Definitely seeing her win gave me more belief, because we do have similar game styles, especially on the forehand wing. It definitely gave me more belief." Gauff also said, "I just really honed in on my game and realized I don't have to play a spectacular point every time to win, even though there were some spectacular points. I think just trusting myself, trusting that my groundstrokes are good enough to be with anyone on this surface." In a separate exchange, Gauff said, "You're funny."

Gauff's previous best performance at Wimbledon was reaching the fourth round in 2019. This achievement follows her victories at the 2023 U.S. Open and the 2025 French Open.
