CARDIFF — Jarrod Evans returned to Cardiff on July 8, 2026, following three seasons with Harlequins. The 29-year-old rugby player rejoined his former team after moving to the English club in 2023.

During his first period with Cardiff, Evans made 126 appearances and scored 765 points. He was part of the team that won the Challenge Cup in 2018, starting in the final against Gloucester. Evans played in 48 matches for Harlequins and competed with Marcus Smith for the fly-half position there.

"I feel like I have matured as a player and person, it's good to get different experiences," Evans said. "I've had three seasons with Harlequins where I was out of my comfort zone, experiencing a different environment and style, so hopefully there are things I can bring back to Cardiff."

Cardiff qualified for the United Rugby Championship (URC) play-offs for the first time in the 2025-2026 season. The team lost only once at the Arms Park during that season. Cardiff had missed the URC play-offs by one point in 2025.

Cardiff Head Coach Corniel van Zyl commented on Evans' return as the team prepares for the Champions Cup. "Moving into the Champions Cup, we felt fly-half was an area we needed to strengthen and he (Evans) will now compete with Callum Sheedy and Ioan Lloyd in a pivotal position for the team where we have some real strength," van Zyl said. "Everyone at the Arms Park will know his attacking style of play and I am looking forward to seeing that, but he has also developed his game at Quins."

Evans has 17 caps for Wales and has played six times for the national team under coach Steve Tandy. In Wales' autumn win against Japan in November 2025, Evans scored the match-winning penalty. He was not selected for the Wales summer tour squad, with Dan Edwards and Sam Costelow chosen ahead of him.
