CHATTANOOGA — A shooting occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on July 6, 2026, in the 4400 block of Amnicola Highway in Chattanooga, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. An 18-year-old male died from a gunshot wound at the scene.

Two other individuals, an 18-year-old male and an 18-year-old female, arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds. Police stated that a large group of people was present at the time of the shooting.

The Chattanooga Police Department Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the incident. The Chattanooga Police Department Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for evidence, though no suspect information is currently available.

The deceased was a recent graduate of Chattanooga Preparatory School. Chattanooga Prep officials stated, "It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of the members of our first graduating class." Officials added, "Our Chatt Prep family is mourning the loss of a remarkable young man who was a cherished member of our school community and will always hold a special place in the history of our school. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him." The shooting location is near the entrance to Chattanooga State Community College and a 7 Eleven convenience store.
