MANCHESTER — Ravi Bishnoi conceded 29 runs in the 17th over of a Twenty20 International match against England at Old Trafford on July 5, 2026. The over stands as the third most expensive single over by an Indian bowler in T20I history.

England won the match by four wickets. Bishnoi bowled two back-foot no-balls in the 17th over, resulting in free hits for England's Jacob Bethell. Bethell hit both free hits for six runs and scored an unbeaten 76 to complete the chase.

India captain Shreyas Iyer addressed the loss. "The way we were cruising until the 15th over, I think we were doing exceptionally well," Iyer said. "And then suddenly the momentum shifted towards them, and from there on, I felt it was a cakewalk for them."

Iyer also commented on Bishnoi's performance. "I think one, I was like, okay, he's going to come back strong after that," Iyer said. "But again, in the 17th over, back-to-back, I think it haunted us a bit. But yeah, definitely he's got to learn from that."

Bishnoi conceded a total of 60 runs in three overs during the match. His figures rank as the fifth most expensive bowling performance by an Indian in a T20I innings. Prasidh Krishna holds the record for most runs conceded in an innings, giving up 68 runs in four overs against Australia in November 2023. Yuzvendra Chahal and CV Varun both conceded 64 runs in four overs, against South Africa in February 2018 and England in March 2026, respectively. Arshdeep Singh conceded 62 runs in four overs against South Africa in October 2022.

Shivam Dube holds the record for the most expensive single over by an Indian, conceding 34 runs against New Zealand in 2020. Stuart Binny conceded 32 runs against the West Indies in 2016, the second most. England leads the five-match series 1-0.
