Eric Simonelli is the offensive quality control coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He entered the NFL immediately after graduating from college.

Simonelli's path into professional football began after an injury cut short his baseball career. "I went to college as a baseball player and then I tore my labrum, so I stopped playing baseball," he said. He volunteered as a student coach at Wesleyan University for three years before Ben Bloom, now a coach for the Tennessee Titans, helped him enter the league.

Simonelli spent six years with the Dallas Cowboys in various capacities before joining TCU. He started with the Cowboys in 2019 as a football research assistant. In 2020, he was promoted to special teams quality control coach and football analytics while Mike McCarthy was the head coach. During the 2021 season, Simonelli served as the offensive quality control coach and football analytics for the Cowboys. He transitioned to defensive quality control coach and football analytics in 2022, a role he maintained until his move to TCU.

While with the Cowboys, Simonelli experienced his first playoff victory during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "I was with the Dallas Cowboys, and we beat Tom Brady in his last game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," he said. Tom Brady's final game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a playoff loss to the Cowboys. Simonelli also served as the assistant linebackers coach at TCU in 2025, where the football team achieved a No. 25 ranking in the Associated Press poll and won the Alamo Bowl championship that year.
