GLASGOW — Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain signed a new one-year contract with Celtic on July 4, 2026. The 32-year-old midfielder initially joined the club in February 2024.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent the 2023-2024 season with Celtic after his contract with Besiktas was terminated. He made his debut and scored a goal against Livingston. He played in 12 matches for Celtic during the season, with seven of those appearances coming as a substitute.

Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup during the 2023-2024 campaign. The team secured the title after defeating Heart of Midlothian on the final day of the season. Martin O'Neill served as the interim manager of Celtic when Oxlade-Chamberlain first joined the club.

"It was an incredible time last season and to be part of that success in winning the league and Scottish Cup was so special," Oxlade-Chamberlain said. "I'm really excited to be back and I'm looking forward to meeting up with the boys and getting to work ahead of what will hopefully be another successful season." His partner, Perrie Edwards, expressed support for his continued tenure at Celtic on social media.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will join the team at their training camp in Portugal. Celtic's squad will travel to Ireland for preseason preparations, with their first preseason match scheduled against Shelbourne on July 7, 2026. Oxlade-Chamberlain began his career at Southampton and has 35 caps for England. He won the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool.

In addition to Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract extension, Celtic also signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Warren Lyall, who was acquired from Dundee. Lyall signed his first professional contract with Celtic. Dundee is due compensation for Lyall, who was born on December 10, 2009, and has played for Scotland at the under-17 level. Lyall also trained with Arsenal in February 2026.
