Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham created a viral finger-pointing meme following a confrontation with Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner on June 22, 2026. The White House later posted a recreation of the meme on X showing U.S. President Donald Trump pointing his finger at the camera and smiling.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter after Bonner became entangled with Fever player Caitlin Clark. Clark received both a foul and a technical foul during the play. Bonner did not receive a foul, and Cunningham received a technical foul for pointing at Bonner.

Cunningham addressed the confrontation, stating, "I was literally talking to the refs. … I was like, 'Now, Caitlin got (a technical foul), but why didn't (Bonner) get one?' I was just pointing and (Bonner's) like, 'Don't you point at me!' And I was like, 'Aw, (you) shouldn't have said that.' And I didn't say a word." She added, "So stupid. That is the stupidest thing I've ever done. Everyone's like, 'That is so dumb.' I think it's dumb! But, like, it was pissing her off, and, like, I couldn't help myself."

The White House posted its version on Tuesday evening. Regarding the meme's widespread use, Cunningham said, "I think everyone around the world is posting it. … I don't really think twice about it. They're just another group that's posting about it."

Cunningham identified a popular variant of the meme as her favorite, stating, "The Statue of Liberty. Dude, that is my favorite one." In this version, Cunningham's face was combined with the Statue of Liberty, which held a tablet displaying the phrase "Don't You Point At Me."

Cunningham and Bonner were teammates in Phoenix in 2019 and again in Indiana in 2025. Bonner later left the Indiana Fever to sign with the Phoenix Mercury.
