KIRYAT HAIM — One individual died after a car exploded in Kiryat Haim in northern Israel on June 30, 2026. Magen David Adom (MDA) and Israel Police confirmed the explosion and death.

Israel Police are investigating the incident as a murder. A preliminary investigation identified the victim as a 50-year-old man and a senior figure in the Hariri crime organization. Firefighters and police sappers worked at the scene to control the fire and prevent additional explosions.

MDA paramedic Nitzan Ben Abu reported on the victim's condition. "At the end of the firefighters' rescue operations, a man was rescued who had no signs of life and suffered from very severe multi-systemic injuries. Unfortunately, we had to pronounce him dead at the scene," Ben Abu said.

The victim had resided in the Kiryat Haim area for several years. He was married and had children. The victim had been arrested multiple times but was released shortly after each arrest.

Israel Police Commissioner Insp.-Gen. Daniel Levi announced a special meeting with senior command staff for Monday evening. This meeting is scheduled to assess efforts against criminal organizations and violence within Arab society.

According to a source familiar with senior criminals in northern Israel, the incident is expected to escalate. "This will lead to a chain of assassinations that who knows how and when it will end," the source stated.
