STONE OAK — Burglaries have occurred in the Estates at Champions Run subdivision in Stone Oak since at least February 2026. The burglaries have resulted in millions of dollars in losses for victims.

Police reports detailed nine separate break-ins and attempted break-ins in the subdivision. Most of the burglaries occurred while homeowners were away from their residences. Stolen items include jewelry, cash, and firearms. In at least one instance, a suspect used a saw to enter a safe.

Video footage shows a masked man attempting to break a window with a rock to enter a home. The suspect in the window-breaking incident fled after triggering a burglar alarm. Video evidence suggests there may be two suspects involved in the crimes.

Some residents have hired armed private security guards to protect their homes. Residents have posted wanted posters and arranged protests outside the subdivision gates. San Antonio Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect. Neighbors have pooled funds to offer an additional $25,000 reward for information.

The San Antonio Police Department stated that Property Crimes Detectives are actively working with victims and the community to identify the suspect. District 9 Councilwoman Misty Spears stated that her office is working with the San Antonio Police Department to protect the community. Orlando Tellez of the Estates at Champions Run Homeowners Association stated the board is concerned about the burglaries and has taken steps to improve security. The Homeowners Association has increased communication with homeowners through emails and social media apps.

"Thieves are taking jewelry, cash, and guns, and causing property damage and vandalism," an anonymous homeowner said. The wife of an anonymous homeowner said that she and her husband arm themselves and have locks on their bedroom doors. A reporter gained entry to the subdivision in an unmarked car when a guard opened the gate without verbal interaction.
