BOSTON — The thriller series "I Will Find You," created by Robert Hull and based on a Harlan Coben novel, premiered on June 18. The series follows David Burroughs, portrayed by Sam Worthington, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his son, Matthew.

Burroughs receives a photograph from Rachel Mills, a journalist and sister of Burroughs' ex-wife, that shows a boy with Matthew's distinctive cheek birthmark at Six Flags, suggesting Matthew is alive. Burroughs escapes from prison with assistance from Peter Outerbridge's character Philip Mackenzie, a prison warden, and Jonathan Tucker's character Adam Mackenzie, Philip's son and a police sergeant.

Burroughs and Rachel investigate Berg Reproductive, a fertility clinic in Boston, which connects to the Payne family. Madeleine Stowe portrays Gertrude Payne, the head of the family, and Milo Ventimiglia portrays her son, Hayden Payne. Initially, Hayden presents himself as an ally to Burroughs and Rachel. Rachel later discovers photographs from Six Flags depicting Hayden holding Matthew's hand.

Matthew is confirmed as Burroughs' biological son. Hayden Payne believed he was Matthew's biological father because he paid for his own sperm at the fertility clinic. Gertrude Payne commissioned a paternity test but withheld the negative results from Hayden. "They've been played for suckers all the way through. That character's trying to help our characters. It's a big betrayal in that respect," Worthington said.

Hayden Payne killed Martin Bischoff and placed the body in Matthew's bed. He then manipulated DNA evidence to misidentify the victim, raising Matthew under the name Theo for five years. A blood test confirmed the deceased child at Burroughs' home was Martin Bischoff, who suffered from metachromatic leukodystrophy and had lived in a Payne-run orphanage. A Swiss investigator named Müller theorized the body belonged to a missing child from a Payne-run orphanage.

Burroughs' conviction relied on a bloodied baseball bat, false neighbor testimony, and his history of sleep terrors. The neighbor provided false testimony at the request of Nicky Fisher, a Boston mobster portrayed by Clancy Brown, who sought revenge against Lenny Burroughs, Burroughs' retired police officer father. "A father's job is to protect his child and so he failed at that. It's all about trying to find that redemption," Coben said.

Burroughs, Rachel, and FBI agent Sarah Greer, portrayed by Logan Browning, approach the Payne estate. Hayden shoots Gertrude and attempts to flee with Matthew. Burroughs confronts Hayden and is shot. Greer shoots and kills Hayden after he points a weapon at Rachel. Hull, who created and served as showrunner for the series, said, "It was just finding new ways to tell the story." The series comprises eight episodes.
