Lizzo released the album Bitch the week of June 1, 2026. The album includes a track titled "Too Nice."

Before this release, she had released several previous albums. The album Cuz I Love You was released in 2019, followed by Special in 2022. She released the single "Truth Hurts" in 2017. That single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won a Grammy Award.

In 2023, two separate lawsuits were filed against her. In August 2023, former dancers filed a lawsuit against her and her production company. They alleged weight-shaming, sexual harassment, and assault. A clothing designer later filed a lawsuit in September 2023 that contained similar allegations. She denied the allegations in both lawsuits. Following the lawsuits, she lost weight.

In 2025, she published a written statement on Substack where she addressed GLP-1 medications and body size trends. Regarding her previous legal disputes, she wrote: "I had been the subject of a vicious scandal, and it felt like the whole world turned its back on me." The singer stated in 2015: "Everyone looks to an artist for something more than just the music and that message of being comfortable in my own skin is number one for me."

She also commented on changes within the music industry. She posted: "The industry changed so much in the last 3 yrs. streaming replaced radio & I was a radio darling." She added: "That's how my fans discovered my music. Not to mention the very obvious & public attack on my career changed things." She referred to the title track of the album Bitch as a "WOMANIFESTO."
