MIDRAND — Bryson DeChambeau defeated Jon Rahm in a playoff to win LIV Golf South Africa on Sunday. The victory marked DeChambeau's fifth LIV title overall.

DeChambeau shot a 6-under-65 in the final round by saving par on the 18th hole. He and Rahm finished regulation play tied at 26-under 258, forcing a playoff.

The playoff took place on the par-5 18th hole. DeChambeau's drive landed in mud left of the fairway on the rain-soaked course, and he was granted free relief and placed his ball. From a wet lie in the rough, DeChambeau hit a 3-wood onto the green to a distance of 12 feet.

Rahm's approach shot from the fairway during the playoff went into a bunker and his bunker shot landed just beyond 12 feet. Rahm misread his birdie putt, while DeChambeau left his eagle putt inches short of the hole. DeChambeau tapped in for birdie to secure the win.

The tournament at Midrand was DeChambeau's final start before the Masters. He won LIV Golf Singapore the previous week, giving him consecutive victories.

DeChambeau became the third player with at least five LIV wins, joining Joaquín Niemann and Brooks Koepka. Niemann has seven LIV wins and Koepka has five LIV wins.

A large gallery sang the national anthem as DeChambeau was near the 18th green during the tournament.
