OKLAHOMA CITY — Megan Grant broke the UCLA all-time career home run record and set a new NCAA single-season home run record during UCLA’s 11-0 win over Arkansas in five innings at the Women’s College World Series on May 29, 2026. Grant hit her 91st career home run in the second inning, surpassing the previous UCLA record held by Stacey Nuveman, and added her 42nd home run of the 2026 season to establish the new NCAA single-season mark.

UCLA’s offense scored nine runs in the second inning, with every Bruins player crossing home plate during the frame. Three players homered in that inning: Aleena Garcia, Soo-Jin Berry, and Grant. Jolyna Lamar added a fourth home run for UCLA in the fifth inning before the game ended via the run rule. Arkansas managed only three hits against UCLA starter Taylor Tinsley.

“It’s like a dream, honestly,” Grant said. “I’m just incredibly honored. Stacey Nuveman was a powerhouse. To be able to say my name is next to hers, I’m truly grateful for it.” Grant, one of three finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, previously broke the NCAA single-season home run record with her 38th homer on May 9 against Nebraska. She finished the season with 74 walks, 69 base hits, and 13 times hit by pitch.

UCLA associate head coach Lisa Fernandez praised Grant’s impact, saying, “People will pay to see her play.” Fernandez added, “It’s very similar to Barry Bonds, right? It’s either a walk or a home run. Like, you pick.” UCLA coach Kelly Inouye-Perez said the team focused on discipline at the plate and quality at-bats rather than trying to hit home runs.

UCLA’s team set an NCAA record with 200 home runs in the 2026 season, surpassing Oklahoma’s previous mark of 160. Grant and teammate Jordan Woolery became the first NCAA duo to each hit at least 30 home runs in the same season. UCLA will face the loser of the Tennessee vs. Texas Tech elimination game on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
