SURPRISE, ARIZ. — Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford set his sights on playing a full season in 2026 during spring training in Surprise, Arizona, after posting a 5.6 bWAR while missing 28 games due to injury in 2025. The 24-year-old outfielder played 134 games in each of his first two Major League Baseball seasons.

Langford's 2025 performance ranked 12th in the American League despite three separate stints on the injured list due to oblique strains. If prorated to 155 games, his 2025 bWAR would have been 6.5.

"I just want to be out there for 155 games plus. That's the goal," Langford said. "I was hurt a lot last year, which had more to do with the offseason, not doing the stuff I should have been doing. So I was able to learn that and then take care of it this offseason."

Langford's rapid ascent through the Rangers organization saw him play just 44 games in the minor leagues before making the defending World Series champions' Opening Day roster. Despite finishing seventh in the 2024 American League Rookie of the Year voting, his 3.9 bWAR that season exceeded every player who finished ahead of him in the voting.

"He made strides last year, and he's only going to get better. But he's already a really good player. I think he's got the potential to be a great player," said Chris Young, Rangers president of baseball operations. "Last year, our team didn't perform at a level that got a lot of national attention. And so I think that's why maybe he's a little under the radar."

First-year Rangers manager Skip Schumaker praised Langford's adaptability at the plate. "There's just so much more that you're going to see, only because he's still learning the big leagues," Schumaker said.

Langford ranked No. 39 on ESPN's most recent top 100 players list, placing him 17th among American League players. Consensus betting markets estimated he had about a 2.2% chance to win the American League MVP award.
