SAN ANTONIO — The Pride Center San Antonio is relocating from the Metropolitan Professional Building to a temporary space in Government Hill by late June 2026 due to the building’s redevelopment. The organization must vacate its current location by the end of June 2026 and expects to complete its move to the new temporary site in the same timeframe.

The Pride Center has operated in the Metropolitan Professional Building for about eight years, a space provided by Methodist Health Systems. Cristian Sanchez, chair of the Pride Center, said, “We’ve been in the Metropolitan Professional Building for about eight years, provided by Methodist Health Systems, and they’ve been an excellent partner.” He added, “Because of them, we were able to go from no staff to a full clinical program serving many people.”

Sanchez explained the reason for the move, saying, “From what we understand, they’re just redeveloping the building, so they’re making us transition out of this space.” The new temporary location in Government Hill will continue to offer free LGBTQ+ resources, though some services will be affected. “What we won’t be able to do is some of our community programming, which is like our drop-in center, some of our groups, group therapy,” he said.

The Pride Center has not secured a permanent location. During the transition, the San Antonio AIDS Foundation has provided temporary space. The organization has launched an emergency fundraiser titled “San Antonio Deserves a Pride Center” with a $100,000 goal. “We’re aiming in our campaign for $100,000. We think that will set us up really well to continue our programming even though we’re having to go through this transition,” Sanchez said.

The Pride Center will share its new Government Hill address on social media once the space is ready.
