FRISCO — Brian Schottenheimer sold his home in McKinney, Texas, in April 2026 after listing it for $3.8 million to relocate closer to the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters in Frisco. The move follows his promotion to head coach in January 2025 after serving as defensive coordinator, succeeding Mike McCarthy.
Schottenheimer’s former residence, a 5,700-square-foot house built in 2021, featured four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a movie room, an infinity-edge pool, and a three-car garage. Located approximately 17 miles from The Star—the Cowboys’ Frisco-based training facility—the home required a roughly 30-minute commute each way.
According to listing agent Carrie Himel of Compass Sports & Entertainment, Schottenheimer’s decision to move was motivated by professional demands. “Every minute counts,” Himel said, emphasizing the head coach’s need to minimize travel time to the team facility.
Public records show the McKinney property was appraised at nearly $2 million by the Collin County Appraisal District for tax purposes, though it listed well above that value. The home sold shortly after being placed on the market in mid-April 2026, though terms of the sale were not disclosed.
The Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters and training operations are centralized at The Star in Frisco, a complex that serves as the nerve center for football operations, administrative staff, and player development. Schottenheimer’s relocation aligns with common practice among NFL coaching staff, who often prioritize proximity to team facilities during the season.
Under Schottenheimer’s leadership, the Cowboys finished the 2025 season with a 7-9-1 record and did not qualify for the playoffs. It remains unknown where Schottenheimer plans to purchase his next home, though the move is expected to place him within a shorter distance of Frisco.
Schottenheimer had lived in the McKinney home since 2021, during his tenure as the team’s defensive coordinator. His promotion to head coach in early 2025 marked a shift in responsibilities that increased his daily presence at The Star, prompting the decision to sell the home a little over a year later in April 2026.
