EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY — The New York Jets acquired defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat from the Tennessee Titans in the offseason in exchange for Jermaine Johnson. Sweat is projected to start at nose tackle for the Jets in the 2026 season.

The trade marks Sweat's first year with the Jets, where he will wear number 99. The nose tackle position calls for a player to absorb blockers and hold the point of attack on most plays.

Sweat was a regular in the middle of the Titans defense in 2025, playing more than half of the team's defensive snaps. His role in Tennessee positioned him as an interior anchor before the move to New York.

In return, the Titans received Johnson, who departs the Jets as part of the same offseason transaction.

Sweat's projected workload at nose tackle would place him at the center of the Jets' defensive line, tasked with occupying blockers to free linebackers and edge rushers behind him. His snap share with the Titans in 2025 indicated a workload consistent with a starting interior role. The Jets are expected to deploy Sweat as a starter from the opening of the 2026 season, based on his projected role following the trade.
