PARIS — World number one Jannik Sinner was drawn against French wild card Clement Tabur in the first round of the French Open. Tabur, ranked a career-high 165th, received the wild card vacated by former champion Stan Wawrinka, who gained a late automatic entry.

Roland Garros qualifying began on May 18, with the singles main draw running from May 24 through June 7. The French Open is the only major tournament Sinner has not won.

Sinner arrives in Paris on a 29-match winning streak over the past three months, dropping just three sets. The run is the fifth longest in the ATP Tour era since 1990. Novak Djokovic holds the record of 43 straight wins from 2010 to 2011.

Sinner had three match points in last year's French Open final before Carlos Alcaraz prevailed. Alcaraz is the two-time reigning champion at Roland Garros.

On clay this season, Sinner has claimed all three Masters 1000 titles in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome, before taking a short break ahead of the French Open. With the Rome title, he became the second man after Djokovic to win all nine Masters events. He has a practice session scheduled on Court Philippe-Chatrier four days after his Rome win.

Sinner gained 50 ATP ranking points without playing between his Italian Open title and the French Open due to the expiration of a rankings penalty. The expired penalty had blocked 50 points from his Halle Open second-round run, which are now counting again. At the Halle Open, Sinner beat Yannick Hanfmann before losing to Alexander Bublik.

Djokovic will take on Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round. He is in Paris with only one match on clay this season and only three tournaments all year because of a shoulder injury. Under the draw, Djokovic could not meet Sinner until the final.
