San Antonio city leaders unveiled two new public art sculptures along West Commerce Street in the Zona Cultural District on Wednesday, May 20. The installations, titled "Creatures of the Creek: A Fragile Balance" and "Metro Radiance," are now on display at separate locations along the downtown corridor.

"Creatures of the Creek: A Fragile Balance," created by artist Diana Kersey, consists of clay sculptures that celebrate creatures found in and around San Pedro Creek. The piece is located alongside the downtown Goodwill at 406 West Commerce St.

The second installation, "Metro Radiance" by the artist RHYS, sits in the median at Santa Rosa and Commerce streets. The work incorporates colorful architectural glass that catches shifting sunlight throughout the day.

Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones said the works are intended for the public. "These two pieces of public art offer memory-making opportunities to both visitors and residents through interactive elements," Jones said. She added: "'Creatures of the Creek' includes a spot to take selfies, and 'Metro Radiance' creates unique, illuminating experiences from every angle throughout the day."

The two sculptures are part of the city's public art programming in the Zona Cultural District along West Commerce Street. "Creatures of the Creek: A Fragile Balance" is located at 406 West Commerce St., alongside the downtown Goodwill. "Metro Radiance" is positioned in the median at the intersection of Santa Rosa and Commerce streets, where its architectural glass elements interact with natural light conditions throughout the day.
