LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — NASCAR indefinitely suspended Craftsman Truck Series driver Daniel Dye after he used what he called a "gay voice" to mock another racer during a livestream. Kaulig Racing also suspended Dye from the team.

During the livestream, Dye was opening trading cards when he made the remarks while heightening the inflection of his voice and bobbing his head in mocking fashion. NASCAR ordered Dye to take sensitivity training as part of his punishment.

NASCAR rules prohibit members from making statements that criticize, ridicule, or disparage another person based on sexual orientation. Dye apologized on social media and admitted fault for his actions.

This marks the second major suspension in Dye's career. At age 18, Dye was suspended in 2022 for allegedly punching a high school classmate in the groin. The assault led to a felony battery charge that was reduced to a misdemeanor before being dropped.

Dye competes in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series, the organization's third-flight series that is a developmental level below the top Cup Series and the second-flight O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. He is in 13th place in the Truck Series standings after three starts in the current season.
