Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the NBA's Clutch Player of the Year, the league announced Tuesday. He finished ahead of Denver's Jamal Murray and Minnesota's Anthony Edwards in the voting.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the league with 175 points in clutch situations this season, and the Thunder posted a 20-7 record in clutch games. Murray finished second in the voting, and Edwards finished third.

"This award means a lot. To get this award, you have to help your team win games late and what I'm about more than anything is winning games," Gilgeous-Alexander said.

He is the fourth player to win the award, which was added in tribute to Jerry West, who was known as "Mr. Clutch" for his exploits when game outcomes were on the line. De'Aaron Fox was the first recipient in 2023, Stephen Curry won in 2024 and Jalen Brunson won last season.

Gilgeous-Alexander finished third in voting for the clutch award last season, eighth in 2024 and seventh in 2023. A survey of the league's coaches narrowed the finalists for the award to 14 names, and a panel of 100 reporters and broadcasters who cover the league voted last week to decide the winner.

"I'm proud I get to hoist it. It means I'm effective out there," he said.

Gilgeous-Alexander is also the reigning NBA MVP and Finals MVP. He is a finalist for this season's MVP award and is the heavy favorite to win a second straight MVP trophy. As an MVP finalist, he will make the All-NBA team for a fourth straight year.
