BATON ROUGE — Elijah Haven, the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2027, announced his commitment to the University of Alabama on Saturday. Haven revealed his decision on his Instagram account, choosing the Crimson Tide over fellow finalist Georgia.

"I will be going to the University of Alabama," Haven said in the post. "Roll Tide, man. Roll Tide. Wake up. Wake up."

Auburn and Florida rounded out Haven's top four recruiting choices, per Rivals. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect attends Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, where he led the program to a state football title in 2025. 247Sports rates him as the second overall player in the Class of 2027 and the top player in the state of Louisiana.

"Supersized quarterback that is going to have a chance to be the face of the franchise with his tools," 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins said. "Projects as a multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff hopeful with the physical gifts and attitude that everyone covets."

Haven is the second consensus five-star quarterback to commit to Alabama under coach Kalen DeBoer. Keelon Russell, also a consensus five-star quarterback already committed to the program, is the potential starter next year and is likely to replace Ty Simpson under center.

Haven's commitment came after a coaching change at his future position room. Nick Sheridan, Alabama's former quarterbacks coach, left to join Michigan State, and Bryan Ellis has taken over the role.

"Coach Nick Sheridan is gone to Michigan State; he has gotten a great opportunity there, but coach Bryan Ellis has stepped in, and we feel the same love," Haven said, per Touchdown Alabama Magazine.
