OKLAHOMA CITY — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 37 points and added nine assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Phoenix Suns 120-107 on Wednesday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round Western Conference playoff series. Gilgeous-Alexander made 13 of 25 field goal attempts after missing his first three shots and then connecting on seven of his next 10 in the remainder of the first half.

In the series opener, Gilgeous-Alexander had made 5 of 18 field goal attempts. He scored 12 points and handed out four assists in the third quarter of Game 2.

"Shai made the right play all night. His floor game was outstanding. He got us really good shots." Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault said.

Chet Holmgren finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. He grabbed a rebound on each of the first three possessions of the third quarter and scored 11 points with three blocks in the period. The Thunder closed the quarter on a 13-2 run to stretch their lead to 23 points, and pushed the margin to 26 early in the fourth quarter.

Jalen Williams scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with four assists in 23 minutes before leaving midway through the third quarter with a left hamstring injury. He did not return. Williams was limited to 33 games during the regular season and missed two long stretches with injuries to his right wrist and right hamstring.

Dillon Brooks led the Suns with 30 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, and Devin Booker added 22. Phoenix trimmed the deficit to 10 points with nearly four minutes remaining before Ajay Mitchell hit a three-pointer out of a timeout to make it 113-100.

Luguentz Dort and Brooks each received a technical foul early in the third quarter after battling for a rebound off a free throw. Booker was given a technical late in the third quarter after bouncing the ball off Williams while trying to keep it in play. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday in Phoenix.
