NEW YORK CITY — Boxer Alycia "The Bomb" Baumgardner will fight Bo Mi Re Shin for the women's super featherweight belt at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The bout marks the first U.S. boxing match for Most Valuable Promotions, the company founded by Jake Paul, under its new broadcast deal.

Beyond Friday's fight, Baumgardner has been pushing boxing to adopt the same fight duration rules for women's fighters that it uses for men. A typical men's prizefight lasts 12 rounds of three minutes each, while most women's prizefights are scheduled for 10 rounds of two minutes each.

"Boxing is about a sweet science, how you can set up a play. It's like chess. Me being able to fight three minutes has allowed me to slow everything down, set up what I want to set up and take my time," Baumgardner said. "Boxing is a dog-eat-dog sport at the end of the day."

She carries a professional record of 17 wins, 1 loss and 7 knockouts into Friday's contest. Most Valuable Promotions made Baumgardner one of its first major signings in March 2025, with the intent of molding her into the new face of women's boxing. She said part of the reason she signed with Paul's promotional company is that it focuses on her equality as a businesswoman. "You have to know that you have to take care of yourself first. And there's a way of doing it, and that's teaming with people who see you for you," she said.

"Jake [Paul] saw it in me in the beginning, and I'm going to prove they didn't make a mistake," Baumgardner said. "As you grow as an individual and a face and a game changer in the sport like boxing, you want to see how you're able to implement new changes, right?" "This is my chance to really showcase who I am," she added.

Baumgardner has appeared on several major cards since joining the promotion. She served as a co-main event on the Taylor vs. Serrano 3 card in July 2025 and on the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua card in December 2025. Most Valuable Promotions promoted the first women's boxing fight to headline Madison Square Garden, when Katie Taylor fought Amanda Serrano in April 2022. Taylor has said she is considering retirement in 2026, as has Serrano. Paul has been vocal about earning better pay for fighters in boxing and MMA.
