MELBOURNE — Actor Ruby Rose alleged on the social media platform Threads that singer Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne, Australia, in August 2010. A representative for Perry denied the allegations.

Rose's posts appeared in response to a social media graphic published by Complex depicting a quote from Perry about singer Justin Bieber's YouTube Premium membership. In her initial post, Rose wrote: "Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks." She then described the alleged incident in graphic detail.

"She didn't kiss me. She saw me 'resting' on my best friend's lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her," Rose wrote on Threads.

"After it I threw up on her, I told the story publicly but changed it to be a 'funny little drunk story' because I didn't know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn't a good person."

Reports from Australian news outlets place Perry and Rose together at the Spice Market nightclub in downtown Melbourne in August 2010. Rose, now 40, said the alleged incident occurred when she was in her twenties.

A representative for Perry issued a statement denying the accusations. "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies," the representative said. "Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named," the representative added. Perry did not comment directly.

Rose indicated that she filed a police report on Sunday but did not specify whether it concerned the alleged incident with Perry. In a separate post, she said she is not interested in filing a report about the incident. A spokesperson for the Victoria Police service in Australia said: "We don't ever confirm the identity of who we may or may not be investigating."
