AMES, IOWA — Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic announced he is entering the 2026 NBA Draft while also placing his name in the NCAA transfer portal. Momcilovic, who shared the decision in a social media post thanking Iowa State fans, coaches and players, is one of three players exiting the Cyclones men's basketball program this offseason.

"The last three years have been the best of my life." Momcilovic wrote in the post. "It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA. At this time, I'm turning my full focus to the NBA Draft, while also entering my name in the Transfer Portal, with the goal of being in the 2026 NBA Draft."

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 16.9 points per game this past season while shooting 48.7% from 3-point range, which ranked first in the country. He also ranked fifth nationally in total 3-pointers made.

Momcilovic produced several high-scoring performances during the season. He scored 34 points and made eight 3-pointers against Cincinnati and scored 29 points with five 3-pointers against Oklahoma State. In the Big 12 tournament, he scored 28 points and connected on eight 3-pointers against Arizona.

Over his three seasons at Iowa State, the Cyclones compiled 83 wins and made two Sweet 16 appearances in the NCAA tournament. Momcilovic is projected as a second-round pick in the June 2026 NBA draft.

Iowa State men's basketball head coach TJ Otzelberger voiced his support for the decision. "Milan and I have had meaningful discussions about his future over the last couple of weeks," Otzelberger said. "He needs to focus on what is best for him and his family. We can't thank him enough for what he has done for our program. We look forward to following him as he pursues his dream of playing in the NBA."
