TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS — Ted Ginn Jr., the head coach of the UFL's Columbus Aviators, was charged with driving while intoxicated in Tarrant County, Texas, on Saturday. The 41-year-old was stopped at 12:58 a.m. Saturday and given a field sobriety test, according to the Euless Police Department.

Ginn was booked on Saturday, according to Tarrant County Sheriff's Department records. He was subsequently released after posting a $1,000 bond, the records show.

Ginn will not coach the Aviators' game Sunday against the Dallas Renegades. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley will serve as acting head coach for that game.

UFL President and CEO Russ Brandon addressed the matter in a statement. "We are aware of an incident involving Head Coach Ted Ginn Jr. over the weekend and are in the process of gathering more information," Brandon said. He added: "Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley will handle the head coaching duties for the Aviators game on Sunday."

Ginn was named the Aviators' head coach in December, taking on his first head coaching position in professional football. The role came after a playing career in the NFL that spanned 14 seasons across six teams.

The Miami Dolphins selected Ginn out of Ohio State with the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Over the course of his playing career, he also played for the San Francisco 49ers, the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints, the Arizona Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. No statement from Ginn or his representatives was available.
