AUGUSTA, GEORGIA — Shane Lowry made a hole-in-one on the par-3 sixth hole during the third round of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, becoming the first golfer to record multiple aces in his Masters career. The shot moved Lowry into a tie for third place at 8-under-par for the tournament, four shots behind leader Rory McIlroy at the time.

Lowry used a 7-iron from the tee on the 190-yard sixth hole to produce the ace. The ball hit the green, bounced twice, and rolled into the hole. After watching the shot drop, Lowry threw his arms into the air, pumped his fist several times, and hugged his playing partner Tommy Fleetwood, who was paired with him for Saturday's round. Fleetwood, who is English, walked alongside Lowry as the crowd at Augusta National reacted to the shot. "Right at it how about right in!" television commentator Andrew Catalon said as the ball disappeared into the cup.

Harris English was standing on the 16th green, approximately 80 yards from the sixth green, when Lowry's tee shot went in. English looked up the hill at Lowry and playfully bowed after the shot.

The ace on the sixth hole was Lowry's second in Masters competition. He previously made a hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole in the final round of the 2016 Masters. No other golfer in tournament history had recorded more than one ace at Augusta National before Saturday's round.

The hole-in-one was also Lowry's second in consecutive professional events. He made an ace on the second hole at Memorial Park during the Houston Open in his most recent start before the Masters. Over the course of his career, Lowry has recorded holes-in-one at Augusta National twice, on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, the seventh hole at Pebble Beach, and at Memorial Park.

Saturday's ace was the seventh hole-in-one recorded on the sixth hole in Masters Tournament history and the first on that hole since Corey Conners made one in 2021. In the past 20 years, only three golfers — Lowry, Si Woo Kim, and Louis Oosthuizen — have recorded multiple holes-in-one in major championships, according to ESPN Research. Players who make a hole-in-one during the Masters are rewarded with a crystal bowl, a tradition at the tournament.
