NEW YORK — Satou Sabally has agreed to sign a multiyear deal with the New York Liberty, joining the defending WNBA champions. The 27-year-old forward is represented by Zack Miller of WME Basketball.

Sabally decided to join the Liberty because she wanted to be on a team she believed could compete for a championship and because she wanted to join the culture in New York. The Liberty won the WNBA title in 2024.

The move reunites Sabally with guard Sabrina Ionescu, her former college teammate at the University of Oregon. The two led the Oregon Ducks to their first Final Four in 2019. In the 2020 WNBA draft, Ionescu was selected first overall by the Liberty, while Sabally was selected second overall by the Dallas Wings.

Sabally will also rejoin Liberty forward Leonie Fiebich, with whom she played at Valencia Basket during the WNBA offseason. Fiebich was a member of the Liberty's 2024 championship roster.

Sabally signed with the Phoenix Mercury in the previous offseason. She led the Mercury in scoring with 16.3 points per game and averaged 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game during the regular season, earning her third All-Star Game appearance.

In the WNBA postseason, Sabally averaged 19 points and seven rebounds per game as she helped the Mercury reach the WNBA Finals. Her season ended when she suffered a concussion in Game 3 of the Finals, causing her to miss the final game of the series.

Sabally was ruled out of participating in Unrivaled in January due to lingering symptoms from the concussion.
