Falkirk secured a top-six finish in the Scottish Premiership with a 3-2 victory at Motherwell on 4 April 2026. The result came during the club's first top-flight campaign in 15 years and marked the second time in the 2025-26 season that John McGlynn's side won at Fir Park.

Calvin Miller and Barney Stewart were among the goalscorers in the win. Miller had signed for Falkirk when the club was still in the third tier of Scottish football and has been part of the squad through back-to-back promotions. Falkirk secured promotion from the third tier in the 2023-24 season and then won the Scottish Championship in 2024-25 to return to the Premiership.

McGlynn praised Miller's display after the match. "I'm hoping his chances of going to the World Cup benefit from that. His performance was different class. He's at the top of his game, and I'm delighted to have him," McGlynn said.

Miller described his own development and the squad's collective rise through the divisions. "I'm getting better and better like everyone in there. We've got a core group of boys that have been at this club now for the past three seasons and we're constantly proving people wrong, so it's nice to get that finish in the top six. Essentially coming here has revived my career again and it got me to where I want to be," Miller said.

Before the 4 April match, Falkirk had been the only team to have beaten Motherwell at Fir Park in the 2025-26 Premiership season. McGlynn won the PFA Scotland manager of the year award in two consecutive seasons prior to the 2025-26 campaign, overseeing the club's climb from the third tier to the top flight.

With the top-six place confirmed, Falkirk were within five points of Hibernian in fifth place as of early April 2026. A fifth-place finish in the Premiership could qualify a team for European football the following season.

The club is also set to face Dunfermline Athletic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup on 18 April 2026. "Challenges just keep coming. If you manage to do one, then you've got to get to the next one. We've got Rangers next week and we've got a semi-final of the Scottish Cup, which is huge for us," McGlynn said.
