Bordeaux Begles defeated Leicester Tigers 64-14 in an Investec Champions Cup last-16 match in Bordeaux, scoring nine tries to advance to the quarter-finals. The 50-point victory eliminated Leicester from the competition for the third consecutive season at the last-16 stage.

Bordeaux crossed for five tries before half-time. Full-back Salesi Rayasi scored a hat-trick, while Woki, Maxime Lucu, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Dany Lamothe, replacement prop Ben Tameifuna, and Julien Retiere also touched down. Lucu kicked five conversions and one penalty, and Reus added three conversions from the bench.

Bielle-Biarrey, a France international winger who was named Six Nations player of the tournament for a second consecutive year, scored his try in the first half. "I don't know what I've just watched. That was incredible. I've not seen a player that quick before," former rugby player Tom Varndell said in a television interview.

Leicester managed two tries in response. Izaia Perese scored in the second half after intercepting a loose pass and running in from long range, while replacement Billy Searle also crossed. Searle kicked both conversions for the Tigers' 14 points.

The two sides entered the knockout phase in contrasting form. Bordeaux had won all four of their pool matches with bonus points, qualifying as the highest-ranked team in the knockout phase. Leicester won one of their four pool matches to advance. The Tigers sat third in the Premiership at the time of the match.

Bordeaux will face Toulouse, six-time Champions Cup winners and current Top 14 leaders, in the quarter-final next weekend. Irish referee Andrew Brace officiated the match, assisted by Peter Martin and Padraic Reidy, both from Ireland, with Olly Hodges serving as the television match official.

Bordeaux's starting XV featured Rayasi, Uberti, Penaud, Moefana, Bielle-Biarrey, Jalibert, and captain Lucu among the backs, with Poirot, Lamothe, Sadie, Palu, Coleman, Vergnes-Taillefer, Woki, and Gazzotti in the pack. Their replacements included Barlot, Perchaud, Tameifuna, Bochaton, Matiu, Retiere, Reus, and Janse van Rensburg.
