"Some of their fans would probably still be disappointed with that, but they shouldn't be."

Boxer Richard Riakporhe, who will challenge Jeamie "TKV" Tshikeva for the British heavyweight title on 11 April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a bout shown live on Netflix, also predicted a City win. Riakporhe forecast a 2-1 scoreline. An artificial intelligence model produced the same prediction, giving City a 2-1 victory. Riakporhe has said football was his first love.

Liverpool face the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Paris St-Germain in France on Wednesday, days before the Etihad encounter. City, meanwhile, have been eliminated from European competition for the season, leaving the FA Cup as their sole remaining route to a second trophy this campaign.

City are aiming to reach the FA Cup semi-final for the eighth consecutive season. If they advance past Liverpool and reach the final, they would become the first team to make four consecutive appearances in the FA Cup final.

All quarter-final ties will be settled on the day, with no replays permitted at this stage of the competition. Matches level after 90 minutes will be decided by extra time and penalties. Elsewhere in the round, the quarter-final at Stamford Bridge features the sixth-placed Premier League side against the 24th-placed League One team, a gap of 62 league positions.
