U.S. COLLEGE BASKETBALL — Tristen Newton won the NCAA Tournament Final Four Most Outstanding Player award in 2024 after leading the University of Connecticut to its second consecutive national championship. Past winners of the award include Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Magic Johnson.

Newton, a 6-foot-5 guard, said the honor factored into conversations with NBA franchises ahead of the draft. "It was one of the first things that teams would mention" during their interviews, Newton said.

Newton was selected 49th overall in the NBA draft, which featured 58 picks.

Winners of the Final Four Most Outstanding Player award receive a small trophy mailed to them after the conclusion of March Madness, an NCAA spokesperson said.
