MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY — NASCAR fined Carson Hocevar $100,000 and Josh Berry $50,000 on Tuesday for brake-checking incidents at Martinsville Speedway. The governing body docked both drivers 25 points each for violations of Sections 4.4a of the NASCAR Rule Book.

Spire Motorsports suspended Hocevar for the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway for his on-track actions at Martinsville. NASCAR also penalized the No. 60 RFK Racing Ford team under Sections 8.8.10.4 A&D for the loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel.

NASCAR stated the penalties relate to wrecking or spinning another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from competition. SMT data showed Hocevar brake-checked Austin Cindric in Stage 2 of the race, resulting in terminal damage for the No. 2 Team Penske Ford.

Berry brake-checked Ryan Blaney on Lap 253 of the race. Blaney suffered heavy front-end damage and spun in Turn 1, causing a caution. "The penalties for Carson Hocevar and Josh Berry were based on SMT data," NASCAR Vice President of Competition Elton Sawyer said on SiriusXM Radio.
