U.S. — Major U.S. retailers, grocery chains, restaurants and delivery services will operate on a mix of schedules on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, with some stores remaining open and others closing for the holiday. Easter, which follows the 40-day period known as Lent, falls on a different date each year because it is one of several moveable feasts in the liturgical year.

Several large retailers will close their doors entirely on Easter Sunday. Target, Costco, Macy's, Kohl's, JCPenney and Lowe's will all be closed. TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Homesense and Sierra will also shut down for the day, as will Michaels and ALDI. Nordstrom stores will be closed except for a few select locations in California, Florida and New York that will remain open.

A number of retailers and grocery stores will stay open. Walmart will operate during its regular hours, and Home Depot, CVS, Dollar General and IKEA will all be open. Kroger, Food Lion, Wegmans, ShopRite and Stop & Shop will be open, though Stop & Shop pharmacies will be closed. ShopRite stores will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., though some locations may vary their hours. Most ACME stores will be open, but hours may vary by location. Walgreens pharmacies will be open.

Whole Foods Market stores will be open but will close early at either 6 p.m. or 8 p.m., depending on location. The Whole Foods store in Portland, Maine, will be closed entirely. Trader Joe's stores will be open, though the Trader Joe's location in Portland, Maine, will also be closed.

Several restaurants will be open on Easter Sunday. McDonald's, Domino's, Dunkin', IHOP, Subway and Taco Bell will all be open. Applebee's will be open at select locations.

Delivery and postal services will follow varied schedules. The United States Postal Service will keep retail locations open, and USPS delivery services will continue as normal. FedEx retail locations will be open with modified hours, though FedEx will limit shipping on Easter Sunday to FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Logistics. All UPS services will be closed.

The U.S. stock market was closed on Friday, April 3, 2026, in observance of Good Friday, and trading will resume on Monday, April 6, 2026.
