GARFIELD COUNTY — Tyler Boebert, 21, was arrested by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday. He faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The charges are linked to a video Boebert allegedly recorded with a 17-year-old in 2024. The mother of the 17-year-old alerted authorities that a video showing her daughter and Boebert having sex was posted on Instagram. An affidavit in support of an arrest warrant does not identify who is alleged to have posted the video.

Boebert was released on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on August 19. The three sexual exploitation charges include possessing exploitative videos, having the intent to distribute exploitative material, and enticing sexual activities with a minor. Boebert was 18 years old at the time of the alleged incident.

U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert addressed the situation in a statement Monday. "I love my son. We take allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time," she said. She noted her son faced difficult public challenges and attention he did not ask for.

In 2024, Lauren Boebert expressed heartbreak over her son's struggles but affirmed she would not give up on him despite previous opportunities to get his life on track. "It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him, and I will continue to be there for him," she said at the time.

This arrest follows a series of legal issues for Boebert. In February 2024, he was arrested and charged with felonies for vehicle thefts and using stolen credit cards in Rifle and Parachute. He originally faced 22 counts, including felonies, in connection with vehicle break-ins in Rifle before pleading to the reduced charge. Boebert pleaded guilty in October 2024 to a single count of attempted identity theft and received a two-year deferred sentence, which includes probation and 80 hours of community service, according to reports.

Legal troubles continued into 2025 and 2026. Boebert was charged with criminal negligence in 2025 after his two-year-old son was found walking alone outside their Weld County home. He was charged with criminal negligence again in February 2026 for a similar situation involving his child.
