KIMBERLING CITY — Gavin Thor Lundgren, 26, jumped from a moving vehicle off the Kimberling City Bridge into Table Rock Lake while fleeing police at approximately 1:50 a.m. on July 18, 2026. The Kimberling City resident was later arrested and booked into the Stone County Jail on charges including aggravated fleeing and assault.

Stone County Deputy Sheriff Ashton Canfield observed a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu traveling at 75 mph in a 45 mph zone before activating emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The driver drove into a parking lot, circled a building, and reentered the street to evade the stop. A second deputy joined the pursuit, and the vehicles proceeded to the Kimberling City Bridge.

Dash camera footage shows the Malibu slowing in the right-hand lane of the bridge with its driver's side door opening while the vehicle was still rolling. The driver, bare-chested and wearing shorts, exited the moving vehicle, stepped onto the bridge deck, and dove headfirst over the railing into Table Rock Lake. The bridge is approximately 50 feet above the water.

A Stone County Sheriff's deputy stated on the video, "Contact water patrol. He just jumped over the bridge." After the driver exited, the vehicle remained in drive and continued to roll forward until Canfield placed it in park. Canfield found a Missouri driver's license with the name Gavin Lundgren on the passenger seat.

Deputies and Southern Stone County firefighters located Lundgren after the jump. Three Stone County deputies sustained minor injuries during Lundgren's arrest, including red marks, lacerations, and abrasions. Lundgren allegedly headbutted one deputy and caused cuts, lacerations, and red marks on two other deputies.

Lundgren was booked into the Stone County Jail at 2:22 a.m. on July 18, 2026. He faces charges of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, third-degree assault, and two counts of fourth-degree assault. Lundgren was held without bond as of Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader stated, "This was definitely a first and luckily he survived the fall."
