Good Morning America was the only morning broadcast to post week-to-week gains in total viewers, with a 1% increase compared to the previous week. In contrast, the Today show’s total viewership declined by 1% from the prior week, while CBS Mornings saw a 7% drop in total viewers over the same period.

Despite losing the total viewer crown, the Today show remained the top program in the adults 25-54 demographic, averaging 599,000 viewers in that category. It was also the only morning newscast to register week-to-week growth in that demographic, with a 5% increase compared to the previous week. Good Morning America averaged 416,000 viewers in the adults 25-54 demographic, a 9% decline from the prior week, while CBS Mornings averaged 253,000 viewers in that group, down 12% week-over-week.

CBS Mornings declined in both total viewers and the adults 25-54 demographic for the week of July 6, making it the only morning show with losses in both categories. The program averaged 1.617 million total viewers, cementing its third-place position among the major network morning shows.

The shift in total viewership leadership marks a notable change in the competitive morning television landscape, interrupting a nearly six-month winning streak by the Today show. Year-over-year comparisons show broader viewing trends: Good Morning America’s total viewers rose 8% compared to the same week in 2025, though its adults 25-54 audience fell 6%. The Today show saw more substantial year-over-year growth, with total viewers up 18% and adults 25-54 viewers up 25% from 2025. Meanwhile, CBS Mornings experienced an 11% year-over-year decline in total viewers and a 6% drop in the key demographic.
