HARRIS COUNTY — A Harris County grand jury indicted Quan Flowers on an aggravated kidnapping charge in connection with the disappearance of Kalie Goodwin. Goodwin, 29, has been missing since April 21, 2024.

Court documents state that Flowers knowingly abducted Goodwin and threatened to use deadly force—specifically a firearm—during the abduction. A search warrant indicates Flowers picked Goodwin up from an apartment complex on April 21 and took her to his home. According to court records, a witness saw Flowers hit Goodwin in the face several times with a handgun, and Flowers allegedly accused her of stealing money.

On April 22, Goodwin’s mother received a phone call from a man demanding $600. A search warrant states that during the call, she heard her daughter’s voice in the background say, "Momma, my face is deformed." A witness told police the call originated from a home in Fort Bend County. Police later found Goodwin’s suitcase containing her identification inside a Fort Bend County residence.

Witnesses told police that Goodwin subsequently appeared at another Houston home severely beaten. An anonymous informant told investigators they were told Goodwin was killed, dismembered, and her body burned in the backyard of Flowers’ home. A search warrant indicates Flowers is accused of using a metal barrel with holes to burn the body.

Neighbors reported seeing a fire in his backyard and described the odor as the worst they had ever experienced. Items were collected from the property for laboratory analysis as part of standard investigative procedures.

Flowers was already in jail on an unrelated murder charge connected to the death of 24-year-old Megan Rouse. Rouse’s body was found off a desolate road in Southwest Houston in May 2024. According to background records, Flowers was arrested on May 31, 2024, in that case.

Court filings also show the vehicle involved in Goodwin’s disappearance was registered to Danielle L. Owens, identified as Flowers’ girlfriend. Flowers claimed he picked up Goodwin under the direction of an unknown male and that she was "in one piece" when he last saw her.
