BEXAR COUNTY — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers are requesting public assistance to identify the driver of a dark-colored SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Joseph Hudson III on June 6. Authorities are searching for the driver of the initial vehicle that struck Hudson and fled the scene, leaving him in the roadway where he was later struck by a second vehicle.

Hudson was killed in the 8200 block of Farm-to-Market 78 near Walzem Road. Deputies responding to the scene found him lying in the middle of the road. A second driver told investigators she did not see Hudson until it was too late and ran him over. Another motorist at the scene attempted to steer traffic away from Hudson to prevent further collisions.

Neither the second driver nor the person who tried to direct traffic is expected to face charges, according to authorities. Investigators have described the vehicle responsible for the initial impact as a small-to-midsize dark-colored SUV. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office emphasized that identifying the driver of this SUV is critical to the case.

Crime Stoppers may pay up to $5,000 for information leading to felony arrests in this case. Joseph Hudson III was a disabled U.S. Army veteran.
