NEW YORK — Jalen Brunson's Game 1 jersey from the 2026 NBA Finals sold for $1,024,000 at a Sotheby's auction. The sale set records for the highest price paid for a New York Knicks memorabilia item and for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions.

The previous record for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions was $1,000,000 for a Cooper Flagg jersey worn during his NBA debut with the Dallas Mavericks. Brunson wore the sold jersey during Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

Fifteen New York Knicks jerseys from Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals were sold at auction, totaling $1,868,416. Karl-Anthony Towns' Game 1 jersey sold for $256,000, and OG Anunoby's Game 1 jersey also sold for $256,000.

The New York Knicks won the 2026 NBA Finals, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 4-1. The victory marked the Knicks' first championship since 1973. Brunson was named the 2026 NBA Finals MVP.

During Game 1, Brunson scored 30 points, with 13 of those points coming in the fourth quarter. The Knicks won the game 105-95 after trailing by as many as 14 points. Media commentator Becky Hammon described Brunson as an "outlier" in the Knicks' title run and "that 1A dude." She declined to apologize for her earlier assessment that Brunson could not lead a championship team.

Brunson experienced discomfort in his shooting wrist during the Knicks' 2026 playoff run. In Game 3, Victor Wembanyama shoved Brunson in the first quarter; the NBA later stated it missed the foul call but would not upgrade it to a flagrant foul. The San Antonio Spurs last won an NBA championship in 2014. The Knicks acquired five second-round picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.

The Knicks trailed by 12 points in Game 2 before winning, and by 16 points in Game 5 before securing a victory. Knicks owner James Dolan stated the team will be the first NBA team to visit the Trump White House. President Trump attended a game during the 2026 NBA Finals.
