RALEIGH — Carolina Hurricanes majority owner Tom Dundon had his wife and five children's names engraved on the Stanley Cup following the team's 2026 championship victory. The names Tom Dundon, Veruschka Dundon, Caden Dundon, Dax Dundon, Drew Dundon, Blake Dundon, and Tagan Dundon occupy the first two lines of the engraving on the 2026 Stanley Cup.

Fifty-three names were added to the trophy after the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 14, 2026. Tom Dundon held the Stanley Cup in the air during the Hurricanes' championship celebration in Raleigh, N.C., on June 20, 2026.

Inclusion on the Stanley Cup engraving is guaranteed by participation in 41 regular-season games or by dressing for one game in the Stanley Cup Final. Carolina Hurricanes player Joel Nystrom was not among the names added to the Stanley Cup, as he skated in 38 regular-season games during the 2025-2026 season for the team.

Carolina Hurricanes goaltenders Brandon Bussi, Frederik Andersen, and Pyotr Kochetkov all have their names on the Stanley Cup. Additionally, Nicolas Deslauriers' name appears on the Cup after the team successfully petitioned for an exemption. Deslauriers played in eight games for the Hurricanes, including playoffs, after being acquired ahead of the trade deadline.

The Hockey Hall of Fame is responsible for the care of the Stanley Cup trophy, but it is not directly involved in the engraving of names. Other owners and their families have also had names inscribed on the trophy. In 2021, Penny Vinik, then-wife of Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik, had her name engraved, though her name was not included in 2020. Teresa Viola, wife of Florida Panthers owner Vincent Viola, has her name on the Stanley Cup, as do their children John, Michael, and Travis Viola. The Viola family names appear on the Stanley Cup engravings for the Florida Panthers' championships in both 2024 and 2025.

Historically, there have been instances of names being altered on the Cup. For example, Basil Pocklington's name was engraved in 1984 after Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington requested it, but it was later chiseled over with X's. Brad Aldrich's name was also covered after allegations came to light that he sexually assaulted player Kyle Beach.
